DISOBEDIENT

How It Affects Christians

Luke 1:17 – And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Romans 1:30 – Back bitters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents.

II Tim. 3:2 – For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful and unholy.

Titus 3:3 – For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living malice and envy hateful and hating one another.

Being disobedient in every form is being unworthy of God. To be disobedient shows that you are not sharing the love of God. To be all that God is to us, you must have love and that unconditional. Being disobedient causes a lot of problems; it causes us to lie, cheat, be disrespectful towards each other, ie: parents and other love ones.

It can also cause confusion in our homes, jobs and place of worship. When you disobey your parents or whomever has jurisdiction over you, it creates major problems. When your parent or guardian tells you something to do and you don’t acknowledge what they say or adhere to it, that’s being disobedient.

Many times there are others in the home that see you acting this way which can then cause more problems. Sometimes they may try to follow your actions or in many instances will take sides with you, knowing that you are wrong. So again, this will cause a division in your home. This can happen in any area of our lives where we are disobedient. In our work place we have supervisors, managers and directors that are basically over us as far as giving out the workload or task that we should perform. In some instances you may for the greater part work independently, however there is always someone that has the authority over you to make decisions. When we do not adhere to the directions of our “superiors”, that is yet another instance of disobedience.

Disobedience is so widespread, take for instance homosexuality. We that are saved, know that the word of God says that all is blasphemy. We know that God created man and woman to be together and multiply their fruit.

Hatred and malice is being disobedient because the word teaches us to love one another. Our salvation is based upon; love, faith and hope (charity).

We must always live our lives in the way that is pleasing to God. Our salvation is in our everyday walk, with Christ. In order to keep ourselves worthy we must walk upright before him. We must read the word and have it in our hearts so that we might not sin against him. By knowing the word of God, praying and seeking him on a daily basis it keeps us in the realm of God. When we lie, cheat, steal and do the things that are not pleasing to God, they are all acts of disobedience.

My word to you is stay in the will of God. Continue to study, pray, seek him for everything in your life. Ask God to open up you understanding to the word, without this we can’t make it. We have to know him for ourselves, although we come to church and hear the word that’s not enough. We have to get an understanding of the word for ourselves, no man can give this to you and no one can take it away. When you do all of these things, you leave no space for disobedience. It behooves us to take heed to God’s word and walk therein.

I encourage you to love, keep the faith and remember there is hope in God.
